My mother in law has a Sprint smartphone that she uses very rarely. Some months she uses 10 minutes, some months she uses 110. Same with SMS and data.

It's currently on Ting. Is there a better deal for her on a Sprint MVNO that has pay-as-you-go pricing that adjusts on the fly?

How about Tello? They have a pure PAYGO set up (not baskets/bins like Ting). I believe your balance never expires.

Tello. $10 minimum. Balance never expires as long as there is some usage. $0.03/min, $0.01/text, $0.02/MB.

Thanks! Tello looks like the right option! Is it tricky to port a Sprint device and number at the same time?

Cellnuvo can beat tello if you watch their ads and it would be a totally free option. Same as Tello, balance will not expire. PM me if you need code to waive activation.

Pretty straight forward with Tello. When you initially sign up you can fill out the port form during activation. If you activate and later want to port in you have to call, but even that is pretty painless.

You can set auto top up in the amount you chose and when you reach $2 it will auto top up the account $10 minumum.

If you want to port in your number to Tello you need to see in what category you fall:

if you purchased a phone or a CDMA SIM from us, you'll need to contact our Customer Service team once you receive the package and provide them the port in details listed below;
if you bring your own phone and you don't need a CDMA SIM, you'll have to fill in the port in details while going through the bring your own phone process
if your number is Sprint active, the port in is mandatory
if your number is non active on Sprint, you have the option to port in your old number or get a new one from Tello during the bring your own phone process

The port in details you need to provide to our Customer Service team are the following:

Current number
Current provider
Account number from current provider
PIN/Password from current provider
Your address as listed on the phone bill
First name and last name as listed on the phone bill

The port in will take up to 2 working days for regular mobile numbers and up to 5 working days for landline and VOIP numbers.

Tello FAQ

You can also check out Twigby, which is similar to Ting, but I think with the usage you would be better off with paygo.
