It seems like a lot of phone for $50, and with the Best Buy 20% airtime promo, it would effectively cost me $35.

But it's only sold at BBY and I can't find any sort of objective review, because almost nobody reviews $50 phones.

Anybody tried one? The specs look good, but that never tells the whole story.

It's so inexpensive that it might be worth trying it on a lark. It's processor however is really low end so the Nougat experience may be laggy.

It does not appear to be VoLTE capable if that is important a potential buyer.

I heard people claim Coolpad products are full of spyware, suffering from the same rebranded Chinese OEM issues that plague certain BLU products, offering backdoors to China, etc. Not sure how valid the claim, but it's enough that people are talking about it to give me pause.

The Canvas' CPU is a Snapdragon 425 with 2GB RAM; those are probably better specs than at least half of Cricket's current lineup.

The best $35 phone for Cricket - if you can find them at that price at your local WalMart - is probably the GoPhone Huawei Ascend XT. Octa-core Snapdragon 616 with 2GB RAM, 6" screen, rootable, and apparently supports VoLTE on AT&T. They do go on sale periodically for $49.99.

The Ascend XT looks really good for a low end phone. It almost matches the phone I have which is the ZTE ZMAX Pro on MetroPCS. I thought about bringing this phone to Cricket but it doesn't support all of the LATE bands. The phone only supports 2, 4, and 12 so I would be missing 3 and 30?
