Hello,

I live between Dallas and Houston. I have a cellphone with AT&T that I have been using for over a decade.

I have some guests visiting the USA for a couple of weeks, and would like to get them prepaid SIM cards just so they can call each other and text each other while here.

They already have phones which will work in the USA, so all I need to get them are SIM cards and add some funds to it.

One option I know of is T-Mobile tourist plan at $30 +$10 for the sim card for 21 days, it has 1000 minutes, unlimited text, and 2GB 4G data, which should be sufficient for their needs.

Should I go ahead and get them this or are there cheaper options for a prepaid SIM card?

I do not mind using my ID etc, I just do not want to add lines to my card.

Thank you

You don't mention data, only talk and text. There are several MVNOs that offer unlimited talk and text with very limited data for around $20/month. It also depends on coverage. Red Pocket Mobile has several plan options and you can get a SIM for any of the four major networks. But find out what kind of phones they have first.

Hello Relztrah

They will not use much data so a low data plan can be fine.

They all have unlocked Iphones, 6 or 7, which they have used in Asia and Europe.

Thank you

Get a prepaid H2O Wireless sim card from ebay. About $12 for unlimited talk and text and 4gb of data for 30 days.

Hello Blacksurfer,

Thank you for your advice. I do not see this $12 plan on the H20 website, am I missing something?

Can I get this H20 wireless Sim or Red Pocket mobile SIM from a big box store Walmart, Target, Best Buy etc.? I may not have enough time to order it via ebay etc.

Thank you

Another option to consider is Tracfone. You can get a SIM from Best Buy for $1.00.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tracfone-bring-your-own-phone-sim-card-activation-kit/4596900.p?skuId=4596900

TracFone - Bring Your Own Phone SIM Card Activation Kit Model: TFATKTMUNA-TRI1 SKU: 4596900

The current SIMs do not have "triple minutes for life" like the older ones. Here are some prices for "Smartphone Only" plans:

$15.00 30 SERVICE DAYS 200 MINUTES 500 TEXTS 500 MB DATA

$20.00 30 SERVICE DAYS 300 MINUTES 1,000 TEXTS 1.0 GB DATA

$25.00 60 SERVICE DAYS 500 MINUTES 1,000 TEXTS 500 MB DATA

(excuse the all caps, this is a copy and paste)

You can get the service cards at Target and Walmart or online from Tracfone.

I should add that the SIM kit includes AT&T, Verizon, and T-mobile.
