I guess in theory it sounds good but actually leaving the house with a phones that can ONLY make calls on LTE, I'm old enough to remember pay phones!

Interesting, so your actual phone didn't have any service other than using your mifi?

For me it's only a technical transition because 90% of my contacts use my gv number anyway, I was just going to go all out and drop my circuit switched voice completely, but Hangouts for voice still concerns me, I'd definitely be more hesitant relying solely on Hangouts if I plan to be away from home for more than a day.

My ONLY reservation is maybe reduced voice quality and the fact with no data, and a strong LTE signal at that , there'd be no voice.
This isn't like VoLTE where voice is reliably prioritized , this is just the Hangouts dialer where it just uses the data connection for voice like it would for browsing. Hope I made somewhat sense, also to add I am not a big talker by any means. 50 minutes a month if that.

I tried it but couldn't keep it up for long. What's got me tethered to voice/sms service? iMessage. Freaking iMessage. If I could get iMessage to work with a Google Voice phone number I'd go data-only in a heartbeat.

What do you mean by "can't find a way to get GV to pickup voicemail"?

Exactly that. I get a message in the Freedom pop app that tells me I had a call from {xxx) xxx-xxxx but if I want to get it I need to have premium services turned on. Nothing shows up in GV.

Did you figure it out?
