Thank you for the response. I just ordered one for my wife to replace her old Note 4. I was debating on an "unlocked" or "Verizon" and heard that an "unlocked" might not work with VoLTE and VVM. Since I am sticking with Total Wireless anyway so might as well get the Verizon version to have better luck with those features. Should get it sometime next week. I'll post a follow up it it work.

I have posted my experience here. My S7 Verizon was an new phone but old stock. It came with Android 6 and Verizon apps. VoLTE was working, VVM too. Not the hot spot. It offered an update to Android 7 (Nougat) and I have accepted it.
Well, that killed VoLTE and the hot spot remained off. It kept trying to "verify the phone number" in Verizon database and came "unsupported". VVM didn't work anymore (not that I care, I think it's useless).
I have then looked over xda-developers and a lot of people said that the "Unlocked US" firmware worked on their Verizon phones (it's even a tutorial), so I have flashed the "U" (unlocked) firmware.
That brought back the VoLTE and allowed hot-spot to work. Of course, no VVM, since that's a Verizon app.
Since then I got another over-the-air security update (April) and, since I didn't unlock or rooted the phone, I have applied it. Phone remained "U" and with those features working.

Thank you for the info SoNic. Seems a little confusing for me with all the updating and flashing. I like it more simple by having the phone working right out of the box. Not a big issue as long as talk, text, data sms and mms are working. Its nice to have but its not a deal breaker for VoLTE and VVM on Total Wireless.

SoNic, Did you register the new phone's IMEI with Total Wireless or just swap the sim?

Hopefully I am asking this in the right place. I was going to start a new thread, but it seems like the folks here might be able to offer some assistance.

I activated an unlocked LG G5 (RS988, non Verizon) a couple of days ago via the TW portal (using an old $1 Tracfone sim ). I was previously using a Moto G5+ for several months prior, with no issues, and no volte.

The newly activated LG G5 by default has "HD Voice" on, and I can use voice and data at the same time!

The problem is that I no longer receive notifications if a voicemail is left, instead I get text message. The messages come from the # "900080006202", and begin with " // ZVWVVM:SYNC:ev=NM;id=.... ". It seems that this is related to Verizon's Visual Voice mail service.

My question is, is it possible to make use of Visual Voice Mail on this device? I am assuming it does not work as is because it is not a Verizon branded device. Is there a third-party app that will work for this (preferably not by Google)? I don't mind a paid app, if it works properly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have replaced the old phone using TW website. That required the old phone number, password, new phone IMEI and new SIM serial (I had to replace the micro with a nano).
